Thomas B. Fischer

Thomas Fischer advances environmentally sustainable policies in spatial planning, transport, energy, and waste through tools like Strategic Environmental Assessment, Sustainability Appraisal, and Environmental Impact Assessment. He has published extensively, including over 120 refereed journal papers, 12 books, and numerous chapters and reports. Thomas has led research and consultancy projects and served as editor-in-chief of major journals in impact assessment. He is a Fellow of IEMA, Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Health in Impact Assessments, and chairs the IAIA academics section.

From anthropology to environmental science, Dr. Sanford's journey is one of passion and impact. After earning his Ph.D. from SUNY-ESF and conducting vital impact assessments, he served nine years as an environmental hearing officer in Vermont. Since 1996, Rob has been inspiring minds in the Department of Environmental Science & Policy, shaping the next generation of environmental leaders.

With over 20 years of global experience in impact assessment, Dr. Cave has dedicated his career to improving standards and quality in the field. From serving as President of the International Association for Impact Assessment to being the sole European member of a U.S. National Research Council committee, his work spans Europe, the US, Africa, and Asia. An accomplished speaker and advocate, Ben continues to inspire change and shape the future of impact assessment worldwide.
