Thomas Fischer advances environmentally sustainable policies in spatial planning, transport, energy, and waste through tools like Strategic Environmental Assessment, Sustainability Appraisal, and Environmental Impact Assessment. He has published extensively, including over 120 refereed journal papers, 12 books, and numerous chapters and reports. Thomas has led research and consultancy projects and served as editor-in-chief of major journals in impact assessment. He is a Fellow of IEMA, Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Health in Impact Assessments, and chairs the IAIA academics section.
